Stay-cation review of Al Marjan Island resort and spa

Nothing like a stay-cation, away from the hustle and bustle of your daily life. This weekend, we decided to go on a quick family getaway to Al Marjan Island resort located in Ras Al Khaimah. It’s clearly a luxury, five start property that has all the elements required for a rejuvenating weekend with your family. Marjan Island resort and spa is situated on the first man-made island in Ras Al Khaimah along side the Arabian Gulf.

The Rooms
Thankfully, we were lucky to be given a room upgrade as we checked in. Marjan King suite with separate living room was allocated to us instead of superior king room. Spacious rooms with spectacular view of the sea, interiors decorated with an Arabic touch. In short very elegant!

Service
Service was just about average, nothing stellar I should say. Either they were confused or they gave wrong information couple of times or they were too busy to respond. The guys at check in counter being the face of the resort, did a fairly good job and hence the overall rating of the service being average.

Outdoors
They have water sports facilities like jet skiing for those who admire such. They also have two swimming pools, outdoors and indoors. Outdoor swimming pool is open until 7pm and the indoor one is open with Jacuzzi until 9pm. The main pool is quite extensive and have a mini pool for your little ones as well.

Food
We chose to go half board, and so we had two of our meals from the hotel at the Al Liwan restaurant which was open for all day dining. The cuisine they offer was a good mix of European, International and regional taste. What stood was the fact they had no desserts for dinner that had chocolate in them and was mostly Arabic. The vast array of meal choices offered would leave you spoilt for choice and wondering where to start from. If you ask me to pick from the dinner and breakfast buffet on which was my favourite, I would say breakfast. I was in love with the different options they had only with egg. The penne pasta was the best to mention at the dinner and for the breakfast I loved their variety breakfast dishes on eggs. Again, customer service is just average. Overall 3.5 stars!

Quick note

They serve no alcohol, so if you are going along with your friends with party as an agenda. Then, hard luck!

Rate during Ramadan
AED 475 for half board per room

Overall
Disconnected from the city life with just you and your family on a luxurious getaway.
