Last weekend I was looking out for some recipes to kick start my cooking adventure. That’s when I stumbled upon something that I tried during my last travel to Georgia. The food here is extremely delicious and all the ingredients are natural. Your foodie journey starts right at the airport with a complimentary bottle of wine.
One of my favorite dish that I loved and I still have carved in my memory because of the flavours, taste or whatever delicious reason it may be – they are Khachapuri and Khinkali. So today was my research day and this is one of the recipe I stumbled upon to try Khachapuri. I loved it and hope you do too.
It’s a warm and gooey traditional bread filled with extra dose of cheese. A fluffy bread boat filled with cheese, butter and fried eggs. This can be found in every nook and corner of the streets. In our case it was served as breakfast at the hotel itself.
To summarize, all you have to do is:
1. Get your dough ready, roll it with the pin and pinch the edges to form a boat shape
2. Mix cheeses (Mozzarella, feta and farmers cheese), egg yolk, and butter. Stuff the mixture over the dough and bake it in the oven for about 15 minutes.
3. Drop a a egg into the baked Khachapuri and brush it up with a bit of butter
4. Return it back to oven and bake for another 5 minutes. Your boat of goodness is ready!
I guess I’ll take a step at a time, next coming up soon Khinkali.
