It’s always great to have a travel partner, but there has to be that one trip (in a lifetime) where you can go solo. To travel solo has always been in my bucket list, an item that has not been crossed out for years now. After reading a few life changing experiences of such trips, I thought it would be a great idea to write to myself why I MUST go on a solo trip.
1. Enjoy more of ‘Me time’
If there is something that you have always wanted to try, then go ahead and give it a try. No one to stop you and don’t have to depend on your travel partners likes and dislikes. When I say me time, it also means through the journey you have a lot of time to reflect upon yourself, perfect time for some self-introspection.
2. Meet new people
They always say that, you should explore the place like a local. The only way you can do that is when you meet and interact with the locals and make new friends on your travel. Warning: have safety in mind always
3. Be the master of your itinerary
No more hassle about what the other person likes to do, where to stay and so on. Its all in your control. You can be the master of your own itinerary. If you don’t like to plan, then you can do so as well – experience the moment, be spontaneous.
4. It’s empowering and be more satisfied
Feel the sense of empowerment and the joy of completing a trip all by yourself. Put an end to all your fears, be more confident and learn to depend on none but yourself. The joy of accomplishment is what awaits you at the end of the trip.
5. Stay within your budget
You are not answerable to anyone but you, so the control lies within you to say yes or no or maybe even give it a try. Always have a budget and remind yourself to stay within.
Take that plunge, while I still contemplate my decision.
